A 28-day month has its advantages

Back at the dawn of the new year, I wrote a post explaining why this blog and why now. TL;DR The blog is my driver for writing more often and getting past the fear that strikes when I think about sharing my writing with, well, anyone!

Since that post I’ve managed to post just twice. While it’s true that I have been off doing those things that pay the bills, slipping into the ‘Well, I would have posted but…’ mindset is not going to help me with the whole writing and sharing thing.

So, inspired by Bloguary, I’m taking on the challenge to blog every day in February. Given that I decided on this plan only a few moments before I started drafting this post, I suspect that my confidence that I can do this is rather misplaced.

Nevertheless, I am encouraged by the fact that February only has 28 days. That’s four Mondays, four Tuesdays, four Wednesdays, four Thursdays, four Fridays, four Saturdays and four Sundays. When you look at it like that, it’s neat month that’s made for time-bound activity.

I think being squeezed in as it is between two overachieving 31-day months, February probably misses out on a lot of attention. This commitment will be my small salute to a month that deserves better.

The diary in the photo is from one of my favourite stores, Rebound Books. They take pre-loved books (like the Golden Book in my diary) and give them a new life by matching them up with diary pages, sketch books, address books and more. The diaries and books are great gifts for nerdy book people like me.

I have not been paid for this mention / link. I simply adore the product and ethos of the business.

I have a special affinity for the month of February. Not only is it my birth month, but it’s the only month of the year that doesn’t have 30 or 31 days. Then every fourth year, it gets to have 29 days. One of a kind.

Best wishes with your challenge. I’ll be following along. And what a great idea for repurposing old books!

No pressure. Do the best you can even if it’s only one day. šŸ™‚
